3G is the third generation of mobile telecom system, chief characteristic of which is to provide various mobile multimedia business, and development target of which is to achieve better communication quality and larger capacity than the second generation system, actualizing seamless wandering between operators more better in worldwide range and providing various business for users, such as sound, data and multimedia, however, the compatibility with the second generation system shall also be taken into consideration. As statistic data, up to the end of April of 2006, global 3G users reached 245 million, which is accounted for 10% of all mobile users. And, until the end of May of 2006, 156pcs of 3G licenses were awarded worldwide, and 281 commercial 3G network were set up.
